Yapping at The University of Chicago

As a sort of introduction to the campus before I begin teaching a course in the Creative Writing department (a course titled "Writing the Graphic Novel"), I will be speaking at The University of Chicago tomorrow. The talk is open to the public, and it is my understanding that there will be snacks. Let me repeat the seriousness of this event: snacks.

I'll be going over a variety of projects, both past and future, as well as discussing some of my convoluted process for producing work. And I solemnly swear to discuss the below two comic books (two of the first comics I ever owned). Godzilla will have his day in the Wild West, turkey.

Here is where and when the Karate-Kid-as-a-metaphor-for-Aryan-disco-militants discussion will occur:

Wednesday, February 24
4:30-6:30 pm
Classics 110
University of Chicago
1010 E. 59th Street
Chicago, IL 60637

SNACK-BUNGLER!

You do know I work at the U of C, right? Why didn't you tell me about this earlier?

I will be there, at least for the first half. I'm having dinner with an old housemate later that night, which I wouldn't have scheduled if I'd know about this!

You're in MY house now. You're GOOD, turkey . . .

I'm sorry, why did I not know there was a KARATE KID COMIC BOOK?!

Good luck with the talk, and please write a comprehensive post on the type and quality of the snacks on offer. Thank you in advance.

James, my apologies. I think I remembered you working _near_ U of C, not on campus. Please excuse my lack of brain. I should also make myself less culpable by explaining that I wasn't initially sure that the event was open to the public.

Tim, I'm glad to have made your life inestimably better by alerting you to the existence of The Karate Kid comic. You can feel free to purchase that cover artwork right now on eBay for me:

I thank you in advance for that generous Christmas gift.

I almost inhaled my face when I saw the current bid.

Um, I guess it's too late to correct the date to the 24th on your "appearances/events/upcoming releases" sidebar...

See you at 4:30!

Good catch, Elizabeth. Sorry for the date mix up. The change has been made.
