Strange Tales II Process

Comics Alliance has a great sampling of process art from a variety of comics (including some from my story) from Strange Tales II (above Ivan Brunetti, below Farel Dalrymple).

The collection (the cover designs for which I posted here) comes out this week, so have at it.

Strange Tales II Cover

No posts? No shirts? What gives?

Well, questioning internet, I've been a bit busy, to put it mildly. And unfortunately I can't talk about most of what I'm doing just yet. But at least one of the projects I can talk about:

I just completed the cover designs for Marvel's Strange Tales II collection, due out in April. It was a pleasure to work on the project, with the only difficulty being what to choose out of all the great art in the series. But there was one person whose work I knew I wanted on the cover before I even began sorting through the files: Kate Beaton, who is, in my humble opinion, one of the best, most pitch-perfect cartoonists working today.

Strange Tales Two, Two

Strange Tales Volume II #2 is out and Comics Alliance has some pages (including one from my story) for your online perusing pleasure. I haven't seen a copy yet myself, but there's a great batch of people in it, so pick one up if you have a chance and the spare pocket change.

Strange Tales and Saturday Signing

As promised, here are a couple scans of my story for the upcoming Strange Tales Volume 2. I can now authoritatively say that drawing Colossus beating the snot out of Colossus (or is it the other way around?) is a good time.

As for Strange Tales Volume 1 and any other books that have the misfortune to contain my name, I'll be signing those tomorrow, April 17th, from 12 to 2 at Chicago Comics booth at the C2E2 convention. Stop by and say hello if you can get through all the sweating hobbits carrying their over-sized tote bags.

Strange Tales and Lip Balm

The interview I gave (conducted by Sean Collins) for the third issue of Strange Tales is up on Marvel's web site. I digress about everything from British mysteries to ALL detergent. Sort of. My apologies for the inaccuracy in the interview: when the interview was conducted I had planned on Wolverine being the recipient of the lip balm, but for reasons that escape me and hopefully everyone else, I transferred the chapped lips' ownership to Cyclops. I've also never won an Eisner award as the lead-in states, but I will accept this pretend award with hypothetical pride.

Marvel has a couple pages from my story accompanying the interview, or you can see those pages (in a bit easier to view format) along with an exclusive peak of one of Jeffrey Brown's pages for the same issue on Publisher's Weekly's comics blog, The Beat.

Spider Mouse

On one level this is just a huge company buying another huge company, which happens with frightening frequency. But on another level: Disney's buying Marvel? This is blowing my mind.
