Like a Tweet to the Groin

I made the grave mistake of offending the juggernaut that is America's Funniest Videos, saying that (in realizing that they were even still producing the program) they might just possibly be irrelevant in the post YouTube age. Completely disproving my point by taking the better part of three days to respond to the tweet, they seem to take offense. At which point it just got silly and wonderful.

Giant Robot posted about the story, so you can read a bit more there. Thanks to everyone who chimed in. This is why the internet exists. But don't tell AFV. They're busy flipping to side B of that Bananarama cassette.

Classic Tribune Cartoonists

An amazing look back at the old days of Chicago Tribune cartooning. (Thanks to Laura Park who shared this via Twitter.)

Our Secret Mayor

A digital high-five is deserved to my friend Dan Sinker of Punk Planet, Cell Stories and now Twitter fame, for the revelation that he is none other than Pretend Rahm Emanuel. Dan has come out of tweeting anonymity to admit he's the man behind the profanity-laiden and oft-followed@MayorEmanuel account: he spoke with The Atlantic, and from the looks of a bazillion re-posts and following stories, everyone else was listening.

Way to go, Dan. Way to fucking go.

Evidence for Future Institutionalization

In an effort to remove any doubt that I'm losing my mind, I have joined the ranks of Twitter (I mainly blame my pal John Huston and the all too addictive Stephen Fry for this).

I've also attempted to have a feed of Twitter updates as well as your (should you be so inclined) responses on the right hand side of this blog. It's sluggish right now at best, but hopefully I'll figure out what the bug is and fix it if possible.
